Wayne Rooney has entered the history books again, this time by
breaking a long standing goal records by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
Rooney scored the only goal of the game when Manchester United
defeated Liverpool 1 – 0 at Anfield hence putting United two points
behind the Champions League places.
In scoring against Liverpool, the England captain scored his first
goal at Anfield in 10 years while also breaking Thierry Henry’s recored
of most goals scored with one team in the Premier League.
Henry played for Arsenal between 1999 and 2007 before a brief return
on loan at the Emirates Stadium in the 2011-12 campaign and secured two
league titles.
The Gunners legend scored 175 goals for Arsenal while Rooney now has 176 for United in the Premier League.
Rooney has reached the landmark in 358 games, 100 more than it took Henry to rack up his total.
Rooney’s goal takes him to 242 goals in all competitions for the Red
Devils, leaving him only seven short of Sir Bobby Charlton’s club
record.
