There was panic at a mosque in Kano State on Friday as an alleged
The incident happened at the Ahalul Sunna mosque, opposite Rijiyar Zaki mosque, along New Site road of the Bayero University, Kano, when Muslim faithful were observing the Juma’at prayer.
It was learnt that people started scampering for safety at the peak of the sermon as a mad man attempted to stay close to him but was stopped.
One Umar Farouk Dandawaki, who was injured in the stampede said, “I sustained injuries on my legs and shoulders because I jumped over the wall of the mosque for my life.
“The suspect, who looked like a mad man attempted to be close to the Imam but was stopped by the mosque security.”
Farouk also stated that the timely intervention of the policemen deployed to the mosque helped to stop the tension from degenerating.
The suspect was said to have been whisked away by the policemen for interrogation.
